BIOGRAPHY |
If Venus DeMilo hailed from the foam of a seashell, Jack Off Jill hails from the blood of a virgin. Since their formation in late 1992, this South Florida born band is a nursery rhyme gone terribly bad. Jack Off Jill has become one of the most exciting and controversial bands in the country and it's no surprise. The success of their first release Cannibal Songbook, and 7" single My Cat b/w Swollen caught the eyes and ears of Risk Records, who signed them in January of '97. The band released their first national 7" Girl Scout b/w American Made in March and on September 9th, their full length debut Sexless, Demons and Scars, produced by Don Fleming (Hole, Sonic Youth, Teenage Fanclub). Jack Off Jill's live show began to gather all of the mistreated until the wholesome became infected...and while Agent Moulder continues to tear up the bass, Jessicka's vocal assault on the senses remains unparalleled. After touring with Lord's of Acid playing to sold out crowds in late 1997, JOJ added long time friend SMP and Los Angeles based drummer Claudia to the devilishly delightful mix. Soon after, this new incarnation/manifestation hit the road on a national tour with Psychotica and were joined along the way by the Genitortures and Switchblade Symphony. Strong lyrical conviction and a growing musical authority are evident in the evolution of this band and now their cumulative fury passion dementia and wrath are unleashed on Covetous Creature, an EP of electronically reconstructed songs from Sexless Demons and Scars. Hitting the streets November 17, it features contributions from Chris Vrenna (NIN, Rasputina, Skinny Puppy), Susan Wallace (Switchblade Symphony), Synical (Two, L7), Shai De LaLuna (Lords of Acid) and Agent Moulder. Remember..."The people that you know are the ones you hate."
